I Recently Fell And Caught Myself With The Left Side

I recently fell and caught myself with the left side of my hand, unfortunately my pinkie finger took the brunt and broke between knuckle and first crease making my finger lean in a bit toward Palm. I was told my choices were to elect to put pins in knuckle to straighten bone or to do nothing and possibly impair my ability to make a fist. I am a senior so I realize would take time to heal if I elected the surgery route . I have in temporary splint at present. Any chance it break might straighten on its own?
