Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently had a condom break during sex. I know that my partner has had many other partners. I am now concerned that I may have been exposed to HIV. A week and two days after the sex I began to have a sore throat for a few days which gradually turned into a cold (runny nose, congestion, cough, fatigue) and now a full two weeks later I have had a slight fever (mid to high 99 degrees) and feel warm regularly. I also have a bit of a headache. Last thing I just noticed was a little painful bump on my tongue (I'm recognizing everything as a potential risk). I'm terrified that I may have contracted HIV and am wondering what you as a professional thinks about my situation. Is it likely that I could have it with these symptoms? I plan on getting tested multiple times. Could my worry be causing a false recognition of any of these symptoms as HIV?
