I Recently Had An Abnormal EKG With An Irregular Heart

I recently had an abnormal EKG with an irregular heart beat. My cardiologist has scheduled additional tests but trying to find out more information. He says it is an electrical problem with my heart, that every fourth heart beat my heart does an extra beat. My parents both have atrial fib and was not sure if this is the start of that ? What medications are used to treat this ? And if there are any known causes for this. I already take lipitor and lisinopril and I am a vitamin/supplement nut. Any info you might be able to share with me would be greatly appreciated.
