I Recently Had An Eye Exam Where Some Old Infectious

I recently had an eye exam where some old infectious matter showed up. I went through a bunch of tests one being syphilis. My doctor said all tests were negative however the eye specialist said the syphilis came back positive saying I had had it many years ago. I have never had any symptoms of syphilis. I have had 3 children all healthy, i have had many blood tests over the years and never did syphilis show up. I have been with my husband for 40 years and neither one of us has had sex outside our marriage. I just dont understand, if I had it over 40 years ago what should I expect in my future? I have many many Lyme disease symptoms, could they be mistaken?
