I Recently Had An Mri Done For My Midback Region

I recently had an mri done for my midback region and it was discovered I have a moderate sized hiatal hernia. My mother recently had a hiatal hernia procedure done and is still healing slowly. My older sister and younger brother have the same thing. I am wondering if I should have the procedure done to correct this problem before it gets worse? I am 58 years old and I have had acid reflux for some time and recently hard time swallowing food, almost choking to death.
