I Recently Had An Upper Tooth Extraction (5/10/16) With A

I recently had an upper tooth extraction (5/10/16) with a resultant infection and dry socket. I have now been informed by another dentist that I need to return to the oral surgeon to get numbed up and scrapped as I have a bump on the outside of the socket that is very tender and sore. Is this normal.
