I Recently Had Cataract Surgery. I Was Given 10 Milligrams

I recently had cataract surgery. I was given 10 milligrams of Valium before the local injection. It was terribly painful; intense burning sensation around my eye. I am going to have the other eye done. Is there anything else I can ask to be done before the injection; I do not think I can stand that again.
