I Recently Saw My Family Doctor Because I Was Concerned

I recently saw my family doctor because I was concerned about the back of my tongue hurting when I ate or swallowed. She said it was inflamed and that I should check with an ENT. I have had this for about 7 days. Would you have an idea, given my symptoms what could be causing this. She didn't think it was a yeast infection. Thank you.
