I recently suffered a bout of cellulitis in my left interior thigh, diagnosed by my doctor. After three weeks on antibiotics, I believe I'm fully recovered, and was over the worst of it (high fever and chills) after a week or so, although the sweling and redness persisted longer. The odd thing was a large-ish, hard mass just under the skin up close to my groin which seemed to be about the size and shape of a fat cigar, cut maybe in half. That seems to be mostly gone now, although my doctor sent me for an MRI on it yesterday to ascertain what it might be, as an ultrasound had only shown fluid there. I think he was assuming it was a swollen lymph node, but the shape was odd, he felt. All this may or may not be related to my problem right now, but it seems a bit of a coincidence. I just discovered, this morning, another hard mass, much smaller, in a different location---on the interior side of my calf, about midway up my lower leg... so about two or three inches to the right of the front of my shin, looking at it from my point of view. This feels more like a teardrop shape, with the taper pointing down, and the larger end up. The widest, largest part of it is about the size of a large pea or so. I noticed it by accident when I brushed my hand against it---there doesn't appear to be any side of redness or anything like that. It seems to be pushed out and thus larger when I flex my calf, and when I do that, it feels more like the size and rough shape of a AAA battery, although not quite as long. There's a slight tenderness to it when I press on it.
I should also mention that there is some edema in my lower left leg, where this is located. Some of this was made worse by the situation with the cellulitis, but it's been persistent before that---I had successful bariatric surgery a little over three years ago and lost 120 lbs, and kept it off--but while the edema in my right leg went away almost entirely, the edema in my left was only reduced, and comes back from time to time, such as now. I don't know if this has something do with it either. My doctor felt that the cellulitis in my upper leg had reduced circulation in my lower, thus heightening the edema there. At any rate, this lump in my calf was not, as far as I can tell, evident until today. Wondering what it could be... a bit concerned that it appeared so suddenly and seems a bit tender.
