I Saw A CVS Minute Clinic Doctor Yesterday (because Getting

I saw a CVS Minute Clinic doctor yesterday (because getting in to see my regular doctor is hard to do) for severe throat pain and enlarged glands. The rapid strep test was negative yesterday at 8:30 a.m. and was sent to a lab. 36 hours later I have not heard anything from the lab and the swollen glands and sore throat are worse today than yesterday. My saliva has gotten rather thick as well. Tonsils were removed as a child and this is the first sore throat I've had since childhood. I am a teacher and strep has been going through my classroom which was why that is what I thought it might be. Do I just sit around waiting to hear back from the lab to see if I need antibiotics? This is day 4 of progressingly getting worse and now the weekend is here. Any advice?
