I Started Having A Sore Throat Two Days Ago And

I started having a sore throat two days ago and it just will not go away, there are no body aches,but I have developed a cough, I have tried chamomile tea, cayenne pepper, gargling with salt water but it just doesn't (o away or get any better. I have been taking theraflu severe cold medicine and that helps with the burning and soreness do my throat. Can it be something serious?
