I Started Taking Simvastatin About Three Months Ago And It

I started taking simvastatin about three months ago and it is lowering my cholesterol but a week ago I started having a bitter metallic taste in my mouth. Even brushing my teeth or using breath mints doesn't help more than a few minutes. The only thing I'm doing differently is taking the simvastatin and I'm wondering if that could be causing it. If so, what alternatives do I have? Even my food doesn't taste good so obviously the taste buds are affected too.
