I Stepped On A Rusty Piece Of Nail On 10/22

I stepped on a rusty piece of nail on 10/22 and it stuck in the callus, very back of my heal. I was on a wooden deck at the beach and I immediately pulled the metal out and through it away and thought I would watch it for signs of infection. ( I had a tetanus shot less than a year past, so I was not concerned about that type of infection and I thought that the metal was just in the fleshy part of my heal.) Now I am a little concerned as it is painful to walk and does not seem to be improving. There are still no signs of swelling or discoloration.
