I Take I Gram Of Valacyclovir Daily For Herpes That

I take I gram of Valacyclovir daily for Herpes that manifests around my lower part of my body. First of all, the definition for this drug mentions adults are protected from shingles, but doesn't mention near my vagina. It does work,however, and I have been taking it for years. My husband saw on the internet that this drug could damage your kidneys, and I have recently had blood work that said my kidneys need more water. Could this be a side affect?
