I Take A Pill Daily For My Heartburn. The Past

I take a pill daily for my heartburn. The past few weeks I've been having terrible pain in the pit of my stomach. It comes on strong then radiates out around my stomach and chest. Feels like a severe hunger pain that comes and goes but the dull pain of heartburn is constant. Sometimes it feels like a pulled muscle. What could this be?
