I Take The Generic For Metformin, Two Tablets After Dinner

I take the generic for metformin, two tablets after dinner and I have started to notice the tablets do not dissolve. I pass them completely whole the next morning. Does this mean I am not getting the benefit of the medication. How can they pass through my entire digestive system and not dissolve.
