I Think I Have A Gum Infection. I Have Top

I think I have a gum infection. I have top dentures with only one large molar left, There's no pain in the remaining tooth as far as I can tell but it's very painful at the top of my gum to the left of the tooth going into the right temple, head and ear. My partner tells me to gargle with Detol!! Swears by it. I've got an emergency appointment with the dentist tomorrow early a.m. and am taking paracetamol but it's not touching the pain. Should I try the Detol?
