I Think I May Have Had An Early Miscarriage? I

I think I may have had an early miscarriage? I just started my period, and I had one probably 5-6cm piece of my uterine lining come out and then a smaller piece later that day. I am on the pill, and I don't really think I was pregnant, but I've been researching online and that was one of the top reasons this could be happening?
