I Think I Am Having A Problem With My Thyroid.

I think i am having a problem with my thyroid. I suddenly over a month have a small bald spot on my head. It is completely white hair and very thin, I have thick hair. Also, I am gaining weight faster than usual over time but i am also 56yrs old.
I do not have a doctor nor have had one for over 15 years
