I Took A Meloxicam Pill This Morning For Joint Pain

I took a meloxicam pill this morning for joint pain and it felt like it went into my sinuses instead of down into my throat. I kept drinking water and then coca-cola, but it still felt like it was in my sinuses or nasal passages. After a few minutes I had some sinus discharge into the back of my throat and cleared my throat and out popped the undissolved pill. How can this happen? Is it dangerous?
