I Was At The Hospital Yesterday With Very Painful Chest

I was at the hospital yesterday with very painful chest pains, they did a blood test and came back positive D-Dimer, they then did a X-ray and CT scan with contrast and my lungs are clear from clots. Is there any other reasons why I would be positive D Dimer?
