I Was Bitten Or Stung, But I Did Not See
I was bitten or stung, but I did not see the bug or bugs that bit me. It was near the water on the Eastern Shore of Maryland 4 nights ago. I felt a stinging sensation on my left arm above the elbow. A little bit later I felt a bite on both of my legs above the ankle.
The bite on my arm immediately started to turn my skin very pink and over the next day or two the pink area (looking like a sunburn) became about 4 inches in diameter. I could not see an actual bite or sting mark, just the pink skin which was a bit swollen as well.
The bites on my legs looked more like regular mosquito bites but they both puffed up about 2 inches in diameter.
Today which is 4 days since the bites, my arm and both spots on my legs looked better, but now I have developed swelling of my left ankle and foot and I don't see a bite or sting mark at all. It's just swollen and pink.
I've been taking Benedryl sporadically and using a cortisone cream on the 4 affected areas (on the advice of 2 different pharmacists). They said they had no idea what could have bitten me.
