I Was Brushing My Teeth This Morning And I Noticed

I was brushing my teeth this morning and I noticed blood was included in spit. It was not coming from my gums. Then I coughed and some blood in my phlegm. Later in the morning, i kept checking to see if more blood would come out in my phlegm but it was clear. What could have happened?
