I Was Diagnosed Today That I Have A Thickened Endometrium

I was diagnosed today that i have a thickened endometrium and have polycystic ovary (right), 12 small follicles measuring 1cm... my doctor advised that i need to have a curretage. is that the only way to treat it? i have a very heavy period that i need to change napkins every 1 hour.
