I Was Diagnosed With Herpes 6 Years Ago Then Ended

I was diagnosed with herpes 6 years ago then ended up have a hysterectomy not even a month later since then I've never had an outbreak nor had any signs or symptoms. I'm wondering why? And do i still have herpes or did the surgery have anythingto do with it?
