I Was Diagnosed With Herpes About A Year Ago, But

I was diagnosed with herpes about a year ago, but recently have been noticing a pain when going to the toilet. I have been told this could be due to an anal fissure whenever I'm constipated. However, also been told it could be an outbreak of herpes. How do i know the difference?
