I Was Diagnosed With Shin Splints But The Symptoms Don't

I was diagnosed with shin splints but the symptoms don't match what I see here. I have a small lump next to my shin that is soft and somewhat movable. I get pain from it mostly at night and the pain extends up my leg and to my hip. It also starts throbbing if I sit too long.there is a bruise over the lump area. I have had the lump since september and the bruise has been there the whole time. It does not hurt to touch the lump usually but throbs afterwards. I was not offered any advice other than to stretch by standing on the edge of a stair with ball of my foot and rising up and down to stretch the leg. YYYY@YYYY .
