Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was dx with stage 3b breast cancer in May 2012. I had a lumpectomy then a total axillary dissection. I had 24 weeks of chemotherapy including Cytoxan, Taxol, and Adramiacyn. I then had radiation treatment 5 days a week for 6 weeks. My mammograms and ultrasounds have been clear since then and my blood tests have been good. About 6 months ago I started having discomfort in my abdomen near the gallbladder. Since the I have been having bouts of soft stool or diarrhea and intestinal discomfort. Sometimes the stool is green. I saw my oncologist a few days ago and my lab tests show I now have Neutropenia. She drilled me about my meds but I haven't been taking any antibiotics and I haven't been taking the Tamoxifen for 2 months because I was having a lot of joint pain. She doesn't seem concerned and says we will check it again in 6 months. That attitude is how my first cancer got so bad. Could what's going on mean I have another type of cancer? Do I ask my PCP to run the CBCD again in a few weeks? Do I ask her for a specific cancer blood test or ask for a bone marrow biopsy? Thank you. Terri in NM.
