I Was Just Diagnosed With LS. However, I'm Not Having

I was just diagnosed with LS. however, I'm not having the itching often associated and I'm not really in pain from it. I guess I'm not convinced that's what I have. I was prescribed ointment that now I find may be risky long term. I'm confused. Is there anyway to prove that's what I have? I thought I just had thinning skin due to menopause.
