I Was Just Prescribed Clindamycin For A Cat Bite At

I was just prescribed Clindamycin for a cat bite at a local Urgent Care facility. Doc has me taking 1 300 mg capsule 4 times daily. After reading all the potential side effects, I'm kind of worried about taking it. (I did take the first one about 30 minutes ago.) I rarely take antibiotics, had a reaction to penicillin (rash) when I was a baby, but other than that have tolerated them well. (I'm 5'1", 120 lbs) . I can't find much on the incidence of reactions. Am wondering why I was prescribed something so strong for a potential infection (site was warm and bruised, but not really swollen).
