I Was Perscribed Boric Acid 600mg Vaginal Caps To Insert

I was perscribed boric acid 600mg vaginal caps to insert vaginally to prevent bacterial vaginosis if, when my bf got overly rambunctious sexually and inadvertently caused a cross contamination issue....which sadly just occured......the perscription bottle says to use before 8.29.11......

Is it dangerous to use this medication with it being so long out of date?

Will is still be effective even though its out of date?
