I Was Told I Had A Heart Murmur About 4

I was told I had a heart murmur about 4 years ago when I turned 40, and have recently been put on high blood pressure medicine .How often should I follow up my primary doctor to get this checked out? They haven't ordered any further tests, there's heart disease on my dads side of the family and my mom was just told she has a hole in her heart , so now my fears and worries are higher..
