I Was Told As A Child That I Am Allergic

I was told as a child that I am allergic to iodine, my mother swabbed my throat with an iodine mouthwash and my thyroid chemicals went out of balance. I took medicine for thyroid for about a year. I would like to know if this allergy could effect how my thyroid levels run?
