I Was Told I Had Arthritis In My Knees, This

I was told i had arthritis in my knees, this is after doing exercise and never having any trouble with my knees before. I was execising to lose weight to prevent diabetes. Now my knees hurt all the time and I had to stop exercising, should I take the injections and are they painful?
