I Went To A Dr About What I Thought Was

I went to a dr about what I thought was a wart on my foot, she said it was a corn and told me to treat it with the OTC acid treatment. I did so and a layer of skin peeled off revealing a center with black in it. Should i keep treating with acid to get the center out (which is still painful and rough as well as black) or leave it alone?
