I Went To Get Down On My Left Knee, And

I went to get down on my left knee, and I had a sharp pain, like I poked it on something, nothing was there, just the floor. Now I have a deep ugly bruise on right side of knee cap and bruising and swelling all the way down my leg in the front. What did I do?
