I Went To See My Doctor Yesterday With Severe Sore

I went to see my doctor yesterday with severe sore throat and inner ear pain. My doctor said it was a sinus infection and put me on Amoxicillin. I was in severe pain last night but the worst of it I felt on the site of an upper tooth extracted several months ago. This morning my eyes were gummed shut with white secretion. Secretion has worsen during the day with itchy eyes and redness of both of them. Is this a side effect of the Amoxicillin or a normal symptom of the sinus infection?
