I Went To The Doctor For Vaginal Ordor, Milky Discharge

I went to the Doctor for Vaginal ordor, milky discharge (light) & some pain in my pelvic region. The doctor had me do a swab of my cervix (which was unusual) he then came back & stated that there were clue cells as well as pus cells present. He then treated me for STDs with antibiotics without examination of my genitaila. So my question is, is the pus cells an indication of an std? And why would he treat me for STDs if he hasn't gotten the results from the lab? I'm extremely worried & the waiting 48 hours for results is driving me insane. Please help clarify some worry I have.
