I Went To The Doctor Yesterday. I'm Experiencing The Following

I went to the doctor yesterday. I'm experiencing the following symptoms swollen neck from ear to chin then down my neck. My ears were starting to bother me and the doctor said my ears looked good. I'm not having headaches and no fever. Inside my mouth and down the back and side of my throat is swollen. The doctor ran a strep and mono test, but came back negative. He said it might be an abscess or bacterial infection. He proscribed antibiotics and 5 days of Prednisone to help the swollen down. I can barely drink fluids as its hard to swallow. Any other ideas of what might be going on. My throat felt a tiny rough on Saturday, It wasn't until Sunday night that it really got bad. Could sleep all night. Monday night pretty much the same thing. I had to sleep in the recliner both nights in order so sleep a bit. I've also been taking Nite Quill at night and day quill in the morning, and ora-gel in my mouth and as far back in my throat that I can get to. I did 800 milligrams of ibuprofen mid day along with the prescribed antibiotics and Prednisone. This seems to help to lessen pain, but near the end of the cycle of meds, it feels like the meds are temporarily helping, but I'm not convinced I'm getting better. Maybe I need to give it a few more days, but I don't want something to be over looked and something worse happen. This is the first time I've gone to the internet for medical research. Thank You Jennifer
