I Went To The Emergency Last Night As I Could

I went to the emergency last night as I could not urinate. I am now wearing a catheter on my leg. I will call a urologist tomorrow (Monday).
1. What can I do to relieve the uncomfortable feeling I have all the time that I sim;ly want to sit on the toilet and urinate?
2. What problems could my situation cause, as i have had some unusual bladder feelings for over a year but my doctor only did a test for an infection and I didn't have an infection. Otherwise he ignored my complaints and did not send me for other tests or to see a urologist.
