I Will Be Starting Fluorouracil 5% Cream. The Pharmacy Says

I will be starting Fluorouracil 5% cream. The pharmacy says to use it twice daily for 4 weeks. My doc told me to use it 5 days on then 2 days off for 4 to 5 weeks. Which one is correct. Also, do I need to use gloves when applying, and can I wear a stockingette cap so I don't scare my grandkids? Do I apply it to my head and complete face? I have a short beard. What about pain meds if I am uncomfortable? Thank you!
