I Will Be Taking A Low Dose Of Metoprolol Tartrate

I will be taking a low dose of metoprolol tartrate (25 mg. daily), and am wondering if I have to take the pills with food or if I can take them without food. The pharmacist tells me it doesn't really matter as long as I take the two doses about 12 hours apart each day. Other information sources on the internet seem to suggest that this medication should always be taken with a meal. Who is correct?
