Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I wish I could but I can't afford to pay for your answer :( I'm in recovery (alcohol since 2003) and now have pain meds due to surgery that I'm taking myself off of but have a new psyc Dr. (my first outreach) who want to give me BENZOS!!!??? It blows my mind and I'm looking for alternatives to help me get through a rocky time w/o taking addiction risks....been there done that and don't EVER want to go back....the pain med requirement is bad enough but I'm feeling good b/c I've almost completely titrated off of them w/ no cravings and my 12 step community and all health profs involved have total transparency from me....it's just this new psyc Dr. I'm trying to figure out??? Maybe it'll just stink for a while and I don't really need to go to him???? Wish you could prvide unbiased guidance on this and truly hope someone actually reads it. I'm the community liaison for our 12 steps community who provides education and info to our schools and healthcare folks :) NOW I'm not sure what to do or say! I hope by signing up on this site, my testimony and experiences w/ addiction might provide something that can help someone else :) If you'd like AA info or pamphlets to discriminate in your own community, please let me know and I can have our home office in NY connect you w/ someone local.
