I Woke Up This Morning With A Very Weird Taste

I woke up this morning with a very weird taste in my mouth. I have a swollen gum, and the night before, it was HUGE.But now, its like it wasnt there before. My dentist told me I had pus in the swollen part. I think i might have swallowed it. Will it do anything to my body?
