I Work At A College Library. Many Rat And Mice

I work at a college library. Many rat and mice droppings have been found along with many chewed books that were chewed by the rodents. My library director wants me to mend the books? I am going to refuse her. After reading some of the information on the internet, I don't want to touch them. What is your advise?
