I Worked At A Plant Six Months Ago Constantly Grabbing

I worked at a plant six months ago constantly grabbing five lbs bags, my hands and fingers swellled badly. it very painful ,i still have pain closing my fingers. What is this and why is their still pain over six months later? only worked for a month left because of pain
