IAM 51 And Periomenopayse. Recently I Started Bleeding Very Heavily

IAM 51 and periomenopayse. Recently I started bleeding very heavily with huge clots. Then it went away for a week and came back. No cramps, no odor. Very strange. After 2 weeks I went to the doctor, mainly for the fact that I was concerned with the heavy clots and I am very active and was getting tired . He did a ultra sound and found 2 fibroids and thickening of 13% of the uterus wall. He is very concerned about cancer and is sending me for a D&C to get a biopsy. What are the chances? I feel very healthy and don't understand all this? Is 13% thickness bad for a 51 year old?
