If Someone Can't Obtain Karvol And Has To Fly Long

If someone can't obtain karvol and has to fly long distance with a 3 year with ear infection is there anything else that you could suggest could be used to alleviate pain for take off or during flight. Child has been put on antibiotics but won't probably kick in until half way through flight. By long distance I mean flying from Australia to UK.
