If Someone Is Told They Have Scar Tissue And Severe

If someone is told they have scar tissue and severe damage to their liver what is their out come please ? My partner is in hospital, and had tests but all we know is scar tissue and severely damaged liver ! ...Can you try help me to understand all this please ? No one at the hospital will say much, so i am left to searching on line for answers ! ....I want to know what 'Scar Tissue' means on the liver please ? ...My partner has been in hospital for a week now. He is an alcoholic, and had bloated belly, they drained off about 7 litres of fluid. He is yellow skinned and very yellow eyes, weight loss, tar like pooh, vomiting, no appetite etc etc.....Will he survive this ? Please tell me the reasonable truth, ...He was told he should never ever have another alcoholic drink again ! ...Why is that ? Will one more drink really kill him ? I am so sorry, i am crazy with questions and answers right now, and i am hoping you can help please ? Thankyou x
