I'm 16 And For The Past 2/3 Days My Troat

I'm 16 and for the past 2/3 days my troat has been really hurting me when I swallow at first I though it was just a common cold thing, because I started off feeling like it was a cold but now when I swallow cough or yawn of really hurts all down my throat.
I have been taking soothers, strepsils, tablets, anything that could sooth it and nothing seems to be working.
At first I thought it was tonsillitis but my parents won't take me to the doctors about it as they think I'm okay.
